Willow Flycatcher Workshop

May 19 & 20, 2012 in the Kern River Valley, CA

The Southern Sierra Research Station offers a workshop each spring for individuals who study Willow Flycatchers on the summer breeding grounds. The goal of the training session is to provide researchers with the necessary tools for identifying Willow Flycatchers and accurately estimating their numbers using standard survey protocols. The workshop meets USFWS requirements for survey training. See our WIFL workshop registration page for more information and to register.

Yellow-billed Cuckoo Workshops

June 26 & 27, 2012 in the Kern River Valley, CA

The SSRS Yellow-billed Cuckoo workshops are offered to individuals who study cuckoos on their summer breeding grounds. The workshops will cover cuckoo ecology, identification, survey protocols and in the field training. Day one of the workshop starts at 1pm and ends 5pm and the second day starts at 6am and ends at 10am. Our long term cuckoo research yields new information about this species annually, and our workshops incorporate the most recent research findings and survey methods for working with Yellow-billed Cuckoos.
